Automatism canvases

Automatism in relation to the creation of art is a process in which the artist doesn't use conscious thought in its creation, meaning that the resulting piece is entirely based from unconscious and subconscious thought. this is often where uncontrollable expression can be found whether through emotion, material or reaction.

Within my practice I have used it to release emotions such as grief, confusion or general feelings of being lost, in the hopes to explore my mental health through a fresh perspective. The outcomes result in the use of heavy mark making and random materials.
